Just a little longer and the time has come: Trade Fair Rijswijk on March 13 and 14, 2024. With this spring fair we start a fresh, new plant season. Exhibitor Plantanious is also ready for it, says co-owner Joost Jansen (right on the picture).
Plantanious grows a wide range of green houseplants on approximately 9 hectares spread over 2 locations in the Westland region, as well as flowering seasonal products for outdoors. The assortment includes various species of strelitzia, alstroemeria, gerbera, fuchsia, hibiscus and ficus.
Sustainability in the DNA
Sustainability is in the DNA of the family business, which Joost runs with his twin brother Freek. "About 14 years ago we entered the business, and 2 years ago we took over Persoon Potplanten. This was from our uncles. Since last January our nephew Quint (left in the picture) has also joined the management and is co-owner. 14 years ago Freek and I started integrating biological means and a biological climate in the greenhouse. We also generate our energy sustainably with 1600 solar panels and geothermal heat. Our location in Kwintsheul has been running entirely on geothermal heat for 6 years, we no longer use gas there at all. That is unique in the sector. In De Lier at Persoon Potplanten we use residual heat from our neighbor. That also fits nicely into our sustainable strategy."
Trade Fair Rijswijk: ready for spring
What can we expect from the company at Trade Fair Rijswijk? Joost: "The stand is fully equipped for spring, with products for the outdoor season that breaks out in April/May. What's nice is that we are also showing a new variety of hibiscus, the HibisQs. This is produced in the Netherlands by two growers, so it is quite exclusive. What is special about this plant is it's ornamental value. The traditional hibiscus opens it's flower and closes again in the evening. This same flower does not open again the next day and a new flower appears. The HibisQs has a flower that opens and stays open for 3 days. Come see this special plant!"
Joost adds that this year a dartboard can be found in the booth. If you as a visitor hit bulls eye, you can win a beautiful plant. So plenty of reason to stop by!
Curious about the HibisQs and the other products of Plantanious and Persoon Potplanten? Come to Trade Fair Rijswijk and visit stand 1.1. Entrance is free, but please register via this form.
